Yoga
Yoga Program – Reuniting Body, Mind, and Soul)
Yoga means to unite—to bring harmony between the individual self and the universal consciousness. True yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is the state of oneness where the practitioner becomes deeply absorbed in the object of meditation, transcending the ego and merging with the Divine.

Understanding the Misconception
In modern times, yoga is often mistaken for just physical postures—people associate it with bending, stretching, or standing upside down. However, these are Yogasanas, not Yoga itself. Yogasanas are an essential first step in preparing the body for the deeper journey of yoga. They build flexibility, strength, and stability—but real Yoga begins when the mind becomes still and the senses turn inward.
What the Scriptures Say About Yoga
In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Shri Krishna defines yoga as:
“योगः भवति दुःखह”
“Yoga is the destroyer of all suffering.” — Bhagavad Gita, 6.17
This profound definition reminds us that true yoga is a path to liberation from pain, suffering, and ignorance.
Similarly, Adi Shankaracharya, one of India’s greatest spiritual teachers, defines yoga as:
“तां योगमितिमन्यन्ते स्थिरमिन्द्रियधारणाम्”
“True Yoga is the steady control of the senses and the mind.”
